The 5th and final installment of this series will include a presentation by Francisco Tovar of the @Institute of Afrodiasporic Studies (IAS) who will share his research about West African ethnic groups and the associated cultural expressions that have contributed to AfroCaribbean identities. Melanie Maldonado of Puerto Rican Organization for the Performing Arts (PROPA) will provide a complimentary lecture on African retentions found in Puerto Rico (inclusive of gastronomy, language and dress). Olabayo Ogunrinola (Nigeria), Thobos Lubamba (Congo) and Dimas S谩nchez (Puerto Rico) will close out the session with demonstrations and explanations of various drumming traditions.
